Suffolk County Chapter Coordinator

BINKY PATROLis an all volunteer, national non-profit organization where volunteers make and distribute homemade blankets (binkies) to children born HIV+, drug-addicted, infected with AIDS or other chronic and terminal illnesses, those who are abused, in foster care or experiencing trauma. The first Bink-a-thon of this newly formed LI chapter was held on National Make A Difference Day in October 2013 where over 200 community volunteers made 250 blankets from fleece donated by by JoAnn’s Fabrics in partnership with Kids in Need Foundation. Over 100 handmade binkies and brand new pillows were donated to  Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. Another 150 binkies were delivered to Marie LaPersonerie, founder of Sean’s Gift to comfort families of organ donors.  More recently, we have partnered with Precious Hearts 1969 to bring character hats and matching binkies to babies born with congenital heart disease at Montefiore Hospital's Pediatric Cardiac Unit in the Bronx.
