Serve as director of development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of curriculum grades K-6. 

  

Responsibilities include:

  • convene, chair, and monitor all elementary curriculum planning, articulation, and coordination

  • conduct program evaluations in cooperation with the Asst. Superintendent for Educational Services, task groups, and principals

  • coordinate curriculum-specific professional development in concert with the Asst. Superintendent for Educational Services

  • organize and supervise all elementary curriculum development projects

  • assist in planning Superintendent’s Conference Days and staff development days in concert with the Professional Development Committee and the Asst. Superintendent for Educational Services

  • collaborate in establishing grade level curriculum and assessment benchmarks

  • coordinate and manage the Elementary Living Books project to assure alignment with gr. 5 Social Studies curriculum

  • conduct staff observations, as needed

  • serve on district committees such as Curriculum Development Council, Professional Development Committee, Stony Brook University Partnership Committee, Elementary & Joint Program Review

  • prepare and deliver presentations on elementary curriculum

  • communicate with the Executive Director of Instructional Technology on issues involving hardware, networking, and other technology platforms and standards.

  • participate in district initiatives

  • establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues, teachers, students, parents, and community groups
